Hosyers Almshouses offer independent living accommodation for elderly people in College Street Ludlow which is near the town centre and close to local services and part of the Hosyer-Foxe Charity portfolio, Hosyer Almshouses provides one two-bedroom flat, six one-bedroom flats and seven bedsits.
The Hosyers Almshouses are among Ludlow’s oldest charitable institutions.
The original almshouses were founded in 1462 by Jon Hosyer, a prosperous merchant who purchased the land and set up provision for “poor persons” of the parish
This Grade II listed building still retains its historical charm and features despite being modernised over the years to meet current living standards.
The charity is managed by a Board of Trustees and supported by a Clerk and Facilities Manager who ensure that the buildings are maintained to a high standard and that residents feel safe, supported and respected.

History
Hosyer’s Almshouses were founded by John Hosyer, a wealthy Ludlow merchant, who purchased the present site on 22 April 1462. But the early history of the foundation is closely linked with that of the Palmers Guild, a local religious guild the origins of which go back to the mid-13th century.
