Applications and Qualification

Hosyers Almshouses are intended for individuals or couples who may need housing due to financial circumstances, unsuitable living conditions or lack of a secure tenancy.

To qualify, applicants must:
- Be aged 60 or over
- Be in housing need
- Be normally resident in the parish of Ludlow or Bromfield and surrounding area.

Applicants should be capable of living independently. The Almshouses does not provide a care facility.

How to apply:

If you or someone you know may be eligible, please get in touch with the Clerk to the Trustees. Appointments are made when a suitable property becomes available. The Trustees reserve the right to decline applications if the criteria are not met.

Successful applicants are appointed under a ‘letter of appointment’ rather than a tenancy agreement which defines the residents’ rights and responsibilities while offering a long-term secure place to live.

Residents contribute a monthly maintenance payment, which covers running costs and upkeep of the buildings.

Those on low income may be eligible for support through Housing Benefit or Universal Credit, and the Facilities Manager is available to assist with any benefit applications.

If you wish to be considered for a property you can either contact the Clerk of the Trustees, The Facilities Manager or complete and forward the application form.
